What fits in a suitcase
Notes from the fund's first trip. We came back from Colombia with works, and above all with a way of looking.

Every trip the fund takes starts with the same question: what deserves to cross a border. We don't mean weight or dimensions. We mean ideas strong enough to hold up through years of living alongside people who never chose them.
In Colombia we found works that still seemed wet with decisions. A portrait crowned in gold that speaks about inheritance. A fold that turns into architecture. A bench that stops being furniture and becomes landscape.
The work travels in the suitcase. The reason we chose it travels in the notebook. (Travel notebook, chapter 01)
That is how a chapter of the fund opens: with works that enter the collection and with notes that explain why. The notes become labels, the labels become rooms, and the rooms become the daily life of a space in Ecuador.
The next trip already has a destination under study. We'll tell that story here, in the curatorial letter, before the works arrive.
